Be Still

You’ll never believe what I love to take pictures of. Well, since you have seen the picture you have probably already guessed the answer to this question! Yes, I love to take pictures of mushrooms. More than birds. More than people. Why?  They don’t move. You don’t have to wait for them to smile. They just sit there waiting patiently to be photographed. It amazes me sometimes the places they show up. In the middle of busy urban areas I’ve seen them sprouting in small planters while thousands of people parade by without a moments notice.

They are quiet. They are still. They don’t really sway much in the wind. They are just fungus! I wish I were more like mushrooms. Not because I’d like to be a fungi. I’d like to be more meditative. I’d like to provide shelter for fairies and frogs. I’d like to just sit patiently while waiting. I want to be quiet. I want to rest. I want to be a mushroom.

When I’m done with this post that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to be still. I’m going to rest.  I’m going let the parade of life go on around me as I sit and listen to God. I’m going to be still and know that He is God.  I’ll open His book and listen to His voice whispering, “I love you!”
"I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” Jeremiah 31:3
"Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." Psalm 46:10
